Ordered Steps — prayer, the Bible, and a planner, where the chaos becomes ordered steps.

Last updated 9 October 2026

Everything you write in Ordered stays on your device. There is no account, no server holding your entries, and nothing is sent anywhere unless you choose to send a report about a problem. Nobody, including us, can read what you have written.

Where your writing lives

Your tasks, habits, moods, notes, reflections, kept verses, prayers and reading progress are stored on your device by the app itself. Nothing is sent to us, and there is no account for any of it to belong to. If you use Ordered on two devices, neither one knows about the other.

The app keeps two copies on the device, both private to it — a working copy and a durable one, so that a phone running low on storage cannot quietly discard what you have written. If your iPhone is backed up to iCloud or to a computer, the app's data is part of that backup, the same as any other app's. That backup is yours, under your own Apple account. We have no access to it and no way to ask anyone for it.

Deleting the app deletes what you have written, and there is no copy of ours to restore it from. Settings has Export a backup, and that file is the only thing that outlives the app on your phone.

What leaves the device

Nothing, unless you send it yourself.

There is no automatic reporting, no crash upload, and no background request of any kind. If you file a bug or an idea from inside the app, it is written to a file and handed to the iOS share sheet — what happens next is yours. You choose whether to send it, and to whom. We see it only if you send it to us.

That file holds what you typed into it, along with a short, fixed list of details that make a problem reproducible:

A report never carries your own writing. No task titles, no notes, no reflections, no feelings, no verses. Prayer is not in a report at all — not what you prayed for, not whether you have prayed, not even how many prayers you have. The counts above exist because "nothing appears" means something different at four hundred tasks than at four, and a count is not content.

If you do send us a report, we keep it on a private tracker hosted by GitHub, so GitHub handles it in the course of storing it. Anything you put in a report is something you have chosen to send, so it is worth not putting anything in one you would rather keep.

What we do not collect

Reading the Bible

Two complete translations, the World English Bible and the King James Version, are included in the app. Reading is not a request to anybody: nothing is fetched, and no record of what you read or search for exists outside your own device.

One link is the exception. Each chapter offers David Guzik's commentary on Enduring Word, which opens in your browser rather than inside the app, because their page asks to be linked to rather than copied. Following it tells their server which chapter you are reading. It does not tell them where you came from, and nothing is sent unless you tap it.

Deleting everything

Deleting the app removes it from the device. Inside the app, Settings has Erase everything, which names what it is about to destroy before it does. There is nothing held elsewhere for us to delete, and nothing to ask us for.

One honest caveat: if your iPhone has been backed up to iCloud or to a computer, a backup made before you deleted may still hold the app's data. That backup is yours, managed in your own device settings. We cannot see it and cannot remove it for you.

Children

Ordered is not directed at children, and nothing is collected from anyone of any age. There is no account to make and no information to give, so there is nothing about a child for us to hold.

What is coming, and what it does not change

Signing in and syncing across your own devices are being built. The first step may not involve a server of ours at all — a copy in your own iCloud, held by Apple under your Apple account rather than by us. Where it does eventually mean a copy reaching a server of ours, it is designed so that the copy is encrypted on your device before it leaves, with the key held by your phone rather than by us. A server that cannot read what it stores is the whole point of doing it that way.

Statistics about your own use of the app — the year in review, the patterns across months — are also being built, and they change nothing here. They are worked out on your device, from what is already on it. No part of that calculation happens anywhere else, so nothing additional is sent and nothing additional is stored.

Whatever any of it turns into, you will never be compared to other people, in any form, including as an anonymous average. There is no version of this app in which your entries become somebody else's benchmark.

This page will be rewritten before sync ships, not after, and the date at the top will say when. A change to what is collected or where it goes will be said plainly inside the app rather than left here to be discovered.
